Harvard Stadium is not typically home to corn-toss competitions or obstacle races. But this wasn’t a typical day for the historic arena.

Roughly 1,000 people broke free from their day jobs on Thursday to attend Children’s Hospital’s inaugural Corporate Cup, essentially a field day for grown-ups. Teams from more than 40 companies competed in various events at the stadium, from a tug of war to a 4x400-meter relay race.

Carola Cadley, vice president of corporate development for Children’s Hospital Trust, was optimistic she would get close to her goal of raising $400,000.

She said she hopes this will become an annual event, in part because it has helped the hospital connect with companies and donors who have not interacted with the institution in the past.

“It’s really a great door-opener for us to engage young people in the companies, and the companies themselves,” Cadley said.
